Wait and Weight

The last couple of months have been very low energy
for me which affects my creative energy a lot.
I do have some new projects on the back burner
but they are very slow cookin!
I found the scrap book (above) at an estate sale
and it has been gathering dust until recently when
I decided to use it for a portfolio of small works on paper.
It is 11x14 and the cover is handmade painted wood.
I tacked down some marking samples on the front cover
and have slowly been filling the pages.

 Here is the first spread.

I am also working on a journal made from
cereal box cardboard . Here is a photo
of the pages gessoed up and weighted down
to keep them from curling.
It's been all about a long wait:
for things to dry, for renewed energy,
for new ideas to take hold.

Thanks for the viewing. Exciting work going on here. I'm sorry you're not feeling full of vim and vigor. Take care, Marie.

PS go to my blog to see who won!

Hi Marie.
What an interesting still life composition your drying gessoed pages make. Shape & colour leading the eye. I like your first spread.
I hope your lack of energy is not due to a health issue, but just that your muse decided to take an Easter break.

Thanks Cat! I'm trying to make use of the huge amount of product packaging
that we get from shopping at Costco!
Maybe the journal will be about that!

Thanks Carole! My doldrums seen to be on the wane, thank heavens/muses.

So glad to hear from you Sylvia! Hope you got my e-mail.
