Miss Ida: The Joy of Looking, The Smart of See

 School Teacher
Another "Ephemera Friday" here after a long  day
of estate sale-ing. The estate sale is different from
the garage sale in that usually the entire house hold estate
is for sale, upstairs, downstairs, the garage....gadgets galore,
books, photos, furniture, baby clothes, jewelry, tools,
kitchen implements, a lifetime of personal objects,
a museum of personal taste and collections up for grabs.
My recent  purchase of the "School Teacher" photo
is one of my all time favorites. I collect "school" memorabilia
of all sorts, and this iconic "school  teacher"  fits in perfectly.

Today we visited the estate of Miss Ida Fasel.
She was a professor of English at Colorado Women's College
and a poet. Her books and journals were everywhere,
in file cabinets, in journals, in her published books.
There was so much to go through and I enjoyed every minute.
Her spirit was alive and well in the house she left behind.
I bought one of her journals where she collected
her poems from a magazine, "Waterways: Poetry in the Mainstream".
I havn't had the chance to read it through, but my favorite line
so far is from "Window"
"the joy of looking, the smart of see".

I also bought Wassily Kandinsky's
"Point and Line to Plane"
from her estate.

Handwriting from Miss Ida's journal.
