Back to Work

I am back from a fabulous get together with my five sisters. We all arrived on Wednesday evening at sister Carolyn's in Los Lunas who was waiting with truly gourmet style fahita's , chili verde, and perfect Magarita's. She had decorated her beautiful home with festive paper rainbow balls and paper flowers to celebrate my 60th and sister Myra's 50th birthdays. In her study she had a "gallery show" of art I had made and given to them all over the years...a sweet and touching gesture.

Thursday was "my day". It began with a delicious brunch of baked apple french toast, bacon and sausage, scrambled eggs, home made cinnamon rolls, fruit, english muffins and Mimosa's. Afterwards I was treated to a special tribute that began with everyone dressing in 60's style outfits to sing "She's Sixty Ya Ya Ya!", a remake of the Beatles "She Loves You". They all did great impressions of the fab four!
They all gave a little speech, very touching....lots of happy tears and then gag gifts including gargantuan flower power granny panties! Sandy, our seamstress, made terrific "feelin' groovy" gift bags, Deb made a paper mache doll, Myra gave me the yellow submarine lunch box filled to the brim with goodies, Barb made a gorgeous afgan and Carolyn made a beautiful leather pouch.

Later that night, we enjoyed a great meal at the Tiwa Steakhouse at Isleta.

Friday we traveled to Santa Fe where we were booked at the very beautiful Buffalo Thunder. The above left photo above is the view from our window and the bottom right is the view from the pool where we sunbathed with more Margarita's!

The hotel is filled with gorgeous art and architecture....such a treat to stay in such a beautiful place. Unfortunately, my camera died in Sante Fe but the sisters have promised to share their photos for the travel journal I am making. We had a great time helping to celebrate the 400 birthday of the town...great entertainment, food & vendor art.
That's it for now. Will post more photos as I get them.

Was happy to get back to my studio where I finished the Beatrice Wood portrait. It is a larger piece 4feet by 3feet.
