I was looking through a stack of old Art and Architecture magazines
and a pink abstract painting caught my eye. I couldn't stop thinking
about how cheerful it seemed with the pinks all layered with bits
of prism. I've never made a purely pink picture before
and so I challenged myself with a pink palette this week end.
LOL!
The studio wall was eye popping for sure,
but forget about the calming and soothing elements
that the color pink is supposed to present.
There is nothing quiet about pink! It shouts and shocks,
where reds are usually just loudly familiar!
"Pink Skies at Sunset"
This one was tamed a little with the turquoise,
but it's definitely not a lullaby!
This one is my favorite, although I don't think it is finished, way too busy
as is. It reminds me of western skies and red plains. I think it would
look great inside a barbed wire frame!
This is a large piece, 36x24. I think I will let it stand.

wonderful color, cheerful and uplifting and it was great to see them in process in the studio and the way you work...
No nothing quiet her Marie. The first pic is a charming composition. The wall is a fabulous perspective of how you work. Your three art works are definitely not quiet but vibrant and energetic - my favourite? the second piece.Although on reflection, 'Pink Skies at Sunset' draws me in. Well Done!
What a delight to have discovered your beautiful blog. Great work!

Pink is a fabulous colour, too often scorned!
Love what you've been up to these past weeks while I've been too busy with family to even sneak away to my studio. Here's to more days of colour for you.
Thanks Cat! So glad you stopped by!
