Studio Light

Love the clouds through the studio sky light!
Yes, this is another "studio" post!
These days, thanks to the internet and publishing houses,
the studio photo has become easily accessible. On you tube,
you can see the "famous" create in their studios: everyone from
Matisse and Picasso to Georgia O'Keefe to various
current "Mixed Media Queen Bees" !
There are books and magazines galore
dedicated to artists and their studios.

I love the voyeuristic pleasure of  seeing
where artists do their work. There is something
so personal and revealing  in these rooms
that goes beyond even a photo of the artist herself.
Today my inspiration is this photo I found in
an 1980 edition of Architecture Digest magazine.
It is one of Henry Moore's studios in Herfordshire village,  England.
I love the serenity of the sculptures  inside this simple space.
The brick wall, the paneled sky light, the paintings in the background,
the red stool, the orange bowl, all poetry of  the silent space
that speak of a brilliant eye, knowing hands, wisdom, intelligence.

This is what is on my easel today:  two new paintings and one small one
in process. The table easel is paint splattered, my vintage clip collection
frames everything I work on. It's probably my favorite
place to be standing in front of on any given day.

What a delightful post Marie. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your take on Moore’s studio - the small spatial vignettes you describe. Your studio looks a delightful space to contemplate and encourage your muse. Thank you.

I enjoy taking a peek into other artists spaces...I often forget to check them out especially when I am in the reorganization mood to get my studio set up for work. On Tuesday I am working with a special needs adult class... so I have gathered up nature stamps to create watercolor compositions for them to paint and enjoy... Have a blessed weekend. I love you easel works so far......Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

still sending you prayerful thoughts.........
