Grit Marks: a Dialogue

I finally got some studio time over the weekend!
I'm still using the oil/cold wax medium, but added
some paper image collage to this diptych.
There are marks  from art magazines that form  a dialogue
with my painted marks.

The result is definitely gritty, like maybe
a conversation while waiting for the subway
or getting lost in the loud machinery of grinding commerce.
I don't know. Very different from what I've been doing
and a welcome change.
I think the message might be that I can maintain my
own voice and perspective in a crowd.

Here are the two together on the vertical.

...and the horizontal, still on clips...
