I tend to use lots of red in my acrylic paintings and my foray into oil/cold wax is proving to be more of the same! I did this one and the following on paper which holds up to the layering and scraping really well. I feel I can experiment to my heart's content without worrying about substrate costs.
This started out as just blotting paper for excess paint, but with a little touch up here and there, I find that it holds up as a painting.
I did this one on a canvas sheet. The under painting is of a landscape attempt which I didn't like at all, way too tight with a dull palette. I loosened up quite a bit with my second attempt, and consider this a finished painting: "Happy Days Are Here Again" !
Still a week to go before Judy's class. She started a Face Book group for the class members, and so far the dialogue has been lively.
