Boulder Studio: Oil+Cold Wax Station
Hello Everyone! I'm beginning my blogging new year using the Cinnamon Studio blog to visually journalize my experiences and developing process as I continue to enjoy the oil and cold wax medium. I have dedicated my Boulder studio space to this endeavor, and will soon be taking an online class from the very talented and generous teacher, Judy Wise. I am so excited to learn all I can from her and to participate in what promises to be a lively and riveting group!
If you are interested in taking the class, the link to the site is:

I have been using up my oil paint stash and have already finished half of a jar of Dorland cold wax!
These were my initial attempts on paper. My first thought was that it is like playing with melted crayons! The medium has that kind of thickish texture that is easily scribbled into and texturized once it sets up a bit.
What I like most about it so far is that the color holds up with layering. I've had a few "muddy" outcomes, but for the most part the lights and darks remain intact.
This was my first painting on canvas board. It has since gone through many incarnations!
This was one of them.
I will be posting more photos of my early and fledgling attempts,
while I eagerly await the class.
