There is always inspiration for paintings
from outside the Boulder studio window, no matter
the weather. Here it had begun to rain.
The photo looks to me like an
Impressionistic masterpiece!
I have few materials here,
no acrylics paints, so I've continued
to experiment with the oils, oil sticks, and cold wax.
I am beginning to love the organic "feel"
of the mixture. I have used acrylics for so long
and I know what they can do. But this
is a different ball of "wax", and calls
for a whole new method .
I am enjoying the challenge and the results.
I have begun to use the materials
for a still life series of objects in the studio
as well as the ongoing abstractions.

Marie, I absolutely LOVE the first painting, just below the photo. I really feel the slant and angle of the rain and can really sense the ferocity of the winds. I can't wait to see this one in person. Hope it can happen soon! The 14th?
that's funny I thought I was looking out MY studio window... driving rain/snow, but we have power... yea! and so grateful...
