The Last Time I Saw Paris
I have finished the 12 maps that I challenged myself with
at the beginning of the year, and still I continue to make them.
Today's were just for fun from the tedium of trying
to get anything "important" accomplished.
(When will I ever learn the lesson of not trying so hard?)

I copied one of Modigliani's portraits for
"The Last Time I Saw Paris" and then mapped over it
with different maps from the city of Paris and country of France.

This one was a pure joy to get caught up in
with memories of my Paris days spilling into the piece.
Coming Home: An Aerial Map
This piece could not be more different from the one above,
and yet it is part of who I am as well. It's about flying
back to Colorado from wherever I've been and looking down
over the familiar fields and mountain ranges as the plane heads ever nearer
to DIA and the long ride home.

love ...coming home...
OMG Marie - is the Paris portrait the PERFECT companion to the Modigliani Red Lady I bought (stole is more like it :-) ) from you? I LOVE IT! She is positively stunning. However, as much as I love her I'm still holding out for Primavera (is that her name?) Or maybe both!
Dear Marie,
Thanks so much for stopping by. It's too long since I've visited your blog- and so glad I'm here. What a fascinating concept - your Modigliani lady with the parisian map on top. Wonder collages on your previous posts as well! Am now a follower of yours!! That guy Seth keeps bringing people together- don't you love it!ll
Thanks Cat! Come on back for a visit!
Wish you could be at Seth's book signing in Boulder next month.
The map portraits are so much fun to do. Who knows where I'll stop!
Thanks so much Jill! Lets all "party on" with Seth!
