Re-Reading Nature

Transformation, 14x12 on canvas, acrylics, gesso, modeling paste

I have been re-reading Peter London's
'Drawing Closer To Nature/Making Art in Dialogue with the Natural World'.
London is also the author of
'No More Second Hand Art'.
Both books have been tremendously helpful to my art practice.
Here are two quotes from 'Drawing Closer...'

"Art is the language of meeting, of intimacy, of closely fitted things.
Nature , of course, is exactly the same.
We can learn to draw up our lives and our art
close to the ways Nature draws up the world.

See for yourself. "

"Art
The forgetting of  Art

Things to have: pencils, paper, bows, paints, inks, clay, arrows,
targets, easels,
Space, time
Things to do: Breathe, center, balance, draw, release,
Things to be: patient

When the fruit is ripe it falls of its own accord."

Love the texture and colour in this painting, especially in the mid right! I'll have to get my hands on these books you're rereading. Great quotes.
