What looked liked a draught summer
has become a rainy, thunderous, lightning filled
July. (Thank you rain gods, amen!)
My latest mixed media painting,
(24x18) is all about dripping color
and wet imagination!
The rest of the month looks like it is going to
be soaked with family reunion activity
and thus my art will have to take
a vacation. (sigh! sigh! sigh!)
I will be in and out when I can,
stealing studio time,
yielding to painting passion
on the odd opportunity,
and always their is the dream state
that graces me with magic
and blessed reprieve.
HOW IS YOUR SUMMER GOING?

Hi Marie. Your painting is such a good expression of rain. May I ask what your mixed media included?
It has been grey and wet and cool so far this summer for us. Tomorrow we leave for a week in the Okanagan area to visit family and friends. I am hoping I don't melt up there as they have missed all our clouds.
I will miss my studio time too but I plan to take lots of photos of the strange dry terrain and hopefully get to Rattlesnake Park for a meander.
Enjoy your family time. xo
Hi Carole,
Hope you have a great vacation!
I used gesso, alcohol inks, and acrylic paint for the top layer drip. What fun to just pour!
Gorgeous painting Marie. Definitely one to see in person.
Hi Seth!
Thanks so much for the nice comment!
Nice to see you here.
Very strong piece! love it. Wish we had some of your rain here in Texas. We are in the midst of one of the worst droughts on record.
Thanks William!
Yes, record droughts are affecting so many. It's awful to see the earth so dry.
Look at this wonderful painting filled with such feel of rain and colors blending. Love the bottom of the painting where there is a sense of optimism and an opening of thought!
Thanks Jill! I do get an optimistic/lively feeling from the piece, pouring color and life.
