I found this 12 inch square quilted piece at a recent estate-sale outing (for 50 cents!) and it has quickly become a favorite treasure. I sewed some buttons and charms onto it & mounted it onto a canvas board. I love the hand stitching around the colorful silk shapes. I have named it "Gypsy Stitches" and set it out with other treasures.
Here is a close-up. Every time I look at it I can hear Stevie Nick's singing her "Gypsy" song.
"So I'm back to the velvet underground,
back to the floor that I love.
To a room with some lace and flowers,
back to the gypsy that I was,

The above image is a vintage photo of a Gypsy juxtaposed with Vincent Van Gogh's "Bivouac of a Gypsy".
