I've been working on some new collages but still have no new photos to share.
(Sigh!) I figured I'd show some figures I've painted, some current, some not.
I usually work from black and white photographs, so trying to apply color can be a challenge.
The above painting is a school girl with her alter ego over her shoulder.

This is an altered photo of Diane Arbus', painted cutout figures on painted red background.

This is a painting inspired by a '50's McCall's dress pattern,

and a mime from French Vogue collaged on a background of tissue paper.
This is a portrait of my dad (right) and his buddy from a black & white photo taken while they were working for the Roosevelt Conservation Corps Camps (CCCamps) during the 1930's. They were so young, teenagers. I studied and studied the small photo: it was a windy day, their clothes were too big, belts drawn tight, shirts puffed out in the wind.

This is a recent portrait of the St Francis bird bath I have in one of my small gardens.
Another recent portrait. I found the photo of the Wilson family at an estate sale. I liked the pose position and the bewildered look on the baby's face. In the painting there is a lot of texture, and I enjoyed using the muted color.

nice work, I love it that you work from Black and Whites and then make it all your own!
It is hard to take a black and white photo and add color and you have done it very here in all your figure paintings... well done.
