Artist's Date

Taos Skyline
Had a short but sweet road trip this week To Taos, New Mexico, one of my all time favorite places to visit. As many a writer and artist has discovered, the village offers a rare magic, a welcoming light, and an artist's paradise of fellow tribesman. The little town probably has more art galleries per capita, than any other place on earth; and this is no exaggeration! And although I love to shop and look at all the wonderful, edgy new work, it is the place itself that is captivating to me.

Taos Palette
Everything connects here. No matter the perspective, no matter the view, the landscapes becon with gorgeous detail.

Adobe
Adobe structures dominate with a primitive elegance. I took this photo of stacks of adobe bricks awaiting their place in a new fence.

Good Fences Make Good Neighbors
Fences of pinon poles abound. They do no seem all that structurally sound but they seem to serve the purpose in all their knotted and vertical wisdom.

For The Birds
Spotted these colorful birds on an early morning plaza beautifully going about their business.

Window Shopping
I love walking about the town before the stores are open. Such spirit and vital designs in window fronts; here a Miguel Martinez gypsy among denim wear and a classic sculpture.
I came home re-energized and motivated to make my home more welcoming, to make my food with more savor, to make my art more lively. Thank you Taos medicine!

I love Taos. Love it. It's a long way for me so I can't just pop on over. But I feel the connection even when I am so far for so long. Special.
Glad you came home inspired Marie!
