Bildwerke

I found this wonderful book of Griechische Bildwerke, (Greek Sculpture) at an estate sale. The inscription to Robert Shathick is from March 30, 1929. The photos are wonderful and the cover design fantastic.

Bildwerke, (German for sculpture), is a great word: build work, make form, shape a passion.
The photo above is one of my studio muses, Primavera. A "Greek Sculpture" remake, also from an estate sale. Truly, she has become a companion. She shape shifts according to light, she sighs with shadows, she inspires me.

This is my latest collage. A compilation of various alpha marks, and highlighting my word of the day, Bildwerke. The portrait is a transfer of a Camille Claudel photo. Camille was a muse/helpmate/live-in of the famous sculpture Rodin. She was also a successful sculptress who died tragically after trying to overcome mental illness (and a broken heart!).

I saw the movie, Camille Claudel, several years ago at the Landmark Theaters. Tragic story indeed.

See you tomorrow!

Love your collage Marie! Wonderful ephemera tied together in this theme. The book cover is gorgeous but so too your sculptural muse!
