Mood Studio

Weather is...

Nature's

Mood Studio

I love old vintage signage and the metaphor of
"old signs" that it connotes. (Painting "Mood Studio" was a lot
harder than I ever thought it would be and now I am even
more respectful of sign painters than I've been in the past.)
Now I have my own sign in the studio that reminds me
of nature's ways: cloudy, stormy, stubborn,
mischief making, sunny, dull, dramatic, banal.
Sometimes all these qualities can be manifest in a single day.
All of this can be applied to art making of course: the mood of the work,
the quality of attention, the old tell tale signs of progression
or regression, stall or squall. It's all about the inner weather really.
What goes on outside informs what goes on inside whether in palette,
shadows, or the endless choices made. And sometimes the inner forecast
ignores everything and carries on within its own mood studio.

I love your new mood sign...I pray for people to understand that making art is real work. I love the metaphor...stall and squall...it is appropriate for the journey of the artist. Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

Thanks so much for your comment Mary Helen! I agree, art is a profession and although many of us do not receive a regular pay check, we put in the time and effort day after day!

I completely get what you're saying. Art (like music) is a profession. Your work is truly wonderful!
