Abstraction: the Sound

Orchestra Tuning Up
9x12  watercolor paper collage, pastels, paper, acrylic

I have been reading Wassily Kandinsky's (1866-1944)
'Point and Line to Plane',
the master artist's philosophy and theory
of abstract painting.
I must confess I am understanding
very little of it! Still,
I am inspired by his belief that the inner world
is made vital and present with art.

I love this Kandinsky quote:

"Color directly influences the soul.
Color is the keyboard, the eyes are the hammers,
the soul is the piano with many strings.
The artist is the hand that plays
touching one key or another with purpose,
to cause vibrations in the soul."
