Saturday I will join a panel of artists including
Lisa Hoffman, Sarah Fishburn, and Fran Menely
for Seth Apter's book signing at
Two Hands' Paperie in Boulder, Colorado.
Seth has been on a book tour
for his recently published first book:
'The Pulse of Mixed Media:
Secrets and Passions of 100 Artists Revealed'
I am so excited and thrilled to be
a contributor to the book, and am
so looking forward to meeting Seth.
I made the above collage (12x8 mixed media)
to celebrate the event.
I will have the opportunity to talk briefly
about my art piece in the book, "Silenced".
It is not an easy piece to reflect upon
on such a happy occasion as the book signing,
but I will do my best.
Briefly, it is about the artist's fears
being allowed to silence the creative voice
that wants and needs to be heard.
When that happens, creativity is killed.
The portrait creates a double negative:
fear and annihilation.
I did not deliberately set out to paint
such a dark image, but fear isn't pretty
and I wanted to be as honest as I could.
and I wanted to be as honest as I could.
Hopefully, I will get some good photos
from the gathering to share next week.

I'll most definitely be there on Sat. Marie, and will take as many photos as I can for you. This collage you made in honor of this event is fantastic! So full of life and color and visuals. Can't wait for Sat. to arrive.
Hi Marie. Thank you for your comment on my work! How funny that I jump on today to see who you are and the first thing on your blog is the book. Sarah is a friend of mine and I stopped in to buy the book and meet Seth last night! I was up for hours reading the book. Wow. It's going to take me a while to ingest it all. So happy to have found your sight!

Your mixed media piece is wonderful...balanced, colorful with such a strong composition! Have fun meeting Seth!
Marie, have fun on Saturday with Seth and the others! Your "Silenced" may not be happy but it is honest and beautifully executed.
Thanks so much for being there Paula!
Can't wait to see all the photos you took.
Dee, Sarah was wonderful at the book signing, as was Seth!
Glad I found your blog too!
Thanks Blue Sky, it was so much fun giving the "pulse" piece to Seth!
Carole, I so appreciate your comment. It encouraged me talk about it at the book signing.
Thanks so much!
