A Place In The Woods
by William Stafford
An early place- come near and look-
a place where light spreads its wide white hand;
from the air true shapes come- triangle,
circle, and a kind of line not yet found.
In your life you meet only flaws and whatever
drops into form by chance; and your hand
from chance reaches its way toward eternity,
performing its part of all your failures........
You get used to that, and most of the time
what comes is all right, but now your hand
here in this early place where the glow
of day passes a certain part of becoming-
Wants true dawn.

Marie....the colours in this work make me think of flying kites on the beach. Great fun that was as is this painting!
Thanks Carol! Now that you mention it, I do see la plage! I can even smell the sun tan lotion!
