Little Boxes Of Memory

The past week I have been preoccupied with the business of closing out my parents home and out buildings. It has been an emotional time and when I have been in the studio I have not been able to focus on letting go and seeing what art might come forth. Today I decided to just start from somewhere/anywhere. The window in the painting below seems to mirror the window in the photo above of my father's garage and I can see several other shapes that are also in the photo. I was not thinking of the photo at all and so I was amazed that what was on my mind was reflected in my work. It validates for me, the connection between body, mind and spirit that cannot be separated from the art that I make.

Mind's Eye

The second collage painting that I am working on seems to capture the nooks and crannies of the interior of my parents home.

Little Boxes Of Memory

The shadows light up the edges of things that might otherwise remain a portrait of emptiness.
