Triangulation

In my post before last I showed this painting and hadn't seen the downward drift of the left side until it was downloaded! My intention was to use a three triangle background structure as a design challenge. I've been playing with the photo in Paintshop Pro and added facial features to the white oval which made it look like a mime and added to the colorful/playful composition.
But I wasn't satisfied with it. I am not one of those artists that can see a finished piece in her mind's eye and then proceed to bring it forth. Trial and error is my usual process!

...and so more playing with the "mirror" function. Still way too busy.

And busier.

Ok, this is a nice pattern, but not what I was looking for.

Back to the studio. I painted larger black, white and gray shapes to stabalize the composition. It worked but now seemed too obvious and a little boring and patchworky.

A Magpie's View

So I turned it 90 degrees and the magpie appeared! Now it's a picture that I like!
Happy weekend everyone!
