Blue Rising
For the past two weeks, everything I've painted is blue. I didn't question it, just went along for the ride. (I have not tried to direct what I make for a long time. It never worked out for me. I just show up and leave whatever happens to the artist within.) Sometimes it takes awhile to see what my work is trying to tell me.
What Have We Done To The Stream?
After looking at the assembled photos on my computer, I finally got it! My soul is grieving. The Gulf Coast oil spill that has been on my mind has darkened my muse.
I feel outraged at the violation and sad and helpless too.
Citadel
We compartmentalize everything into tidy slots: the need for oil, the ravenous greed for profit, the eventual but certain environmental toll.
Sorrow
In the end, sorrow rises with the toxins and overflows into consciousness.
What A Muse Observes
The truth comes to the top. The damage continues day after day.
And Growing
Blue Note
This is a prayer that we all come to our senses soon, that we learn what is truly valuable, that we take only what we need, and give back with responsibility, that we rise to the occasion of caring for this beautiful blue planet.

it is very difficult to read the news about this oil gusher every day-- such a tragic stupid mess due to greed and thoughtless uncaring a-holes excuse my language but your art work coming out of all this is wonderful and expresses the tragedy very well.

The oil mess is painful. I think greed is at the bottom of it. I love the work titled And Growing.
