I was busy today making ATC's for the Saturday Core Trade in Denver. I also made five 8by 10 stitched collages using this month's "Time" theme. I have traded lots of great original art work with the Core group & the "larger" dimension is always enjoyable, both to trade and to make. I have lots of my trades framed and exhibited both in my home and studio. There is something so liberating and authentic for me in art trades....the money issue becomes inconsequential to pure aesthetic and subjective value and worth. There is a level of motivation and excellence when a one to one trade is involved and original effort is the primary consideration. I have learned alot about the nature of "art" from my trades, and most often come away feeling grateful for the opportunity to be a part of a communally generous and creative effort to expand what art can be beyond pure cultural product. It speaks to me of what art can become in society at large and how it can unify a divergent and anonamous group of groping dreamers and seekers of authentic vision.

I agree, I love trading art and bypassing the current of money seems so primal!
I love this ATC. The stitching is a great touch. And I totally agree with you about what you say about the creative community.
